I have read hundreds, nay, thousands of books in my life. The ones that have stuck with me, those books that either crafted the person, or the writer, that I am now are below. I will add what I remember, and more later. Profound books, simple books, in a variety of age groups and genres. Is it any wonder I write multi-genre?!

Yes, it's a children's story. It happens to be one of the best. One I continue to try and live by. Horton taught me to keep my word, to be accountable for my actions, and to be loyal.
I read an excerpt of this book when I was just five years old. Years later, I found it again in a 5th grade reader and later, in the mid-80s I found the entire book and read it. Even now, the thought of it makes me smile!
I wonder if this book led me to foster. I can't be sure, but it certainly captivated me. I read it dozens of times over.
I read this book obsessively as a tween and teen. The protagonist isn't the brightest bulb in the galaxy, but she has a huge heart.
I've always enjoyed post-apoc fiction and this book kept me coming back again and again.
Human nature turned on its ear. I read it again and again, imagining how amazing a future without greed could look.
My first husband introduced me to the Pern books. I loved them. My favorite in the series was All the Weyrs of Pern.
Another book I read over and over again. It's a hefty read at over 1,000 pages. Until Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Ruin, I think it might be the longest book I've ever read.
