Today, I stepped outside and immediately a squirrel began chittering away at me. It's raspy little "meh, meh!" no doubt saying something rude. Aren't they always saying something rude?
But honestly, it's more of the metaphorical squirrels that have me turning in circles.
I need to source doors - I need five 28" doors for Cottage East.
I need to add that little scene I thought about to Zarmina's World.
Cottage West backyard needs serious deforestation.
A snippet of story pops into my mind and I rush to write it down.
I should try making rice pudding for Alex in the Instant Pot. [internet rabbit hole yields arborio rice as the best type of rice to use, I order rice on Amazon]
Those audio files aren't going to edit themselves, Christine.
You do realize the $100 worth of iris bulbs you bought are drying out and will die if you don't get them in the ground soon, right?
The floor needs vacuuming.
And so on and so forth. The more I try and concentrate on editing my audio files, the louder my internal reminders become. I flitter about, distracted by a dozen different things. And the poison ivy I contracted while weeding in the tiny alley between our Airbnb and our neighbor's decrepit rundown house is itching like a mofo. On my belly, my arms, ugh!
Today, as I pushed through first one audio file chapter and onto a second, I was suddenly struck with an idea for doing a Kickstarter for my Annual Goals Workbook that I created over a year ago and have been editing/amending as I go through the year - changing details here and there. But a few minutes into my distracted rabbit hole I realized I need to wait until I have Quit Your Job, Change Your Life ready to go.
Add that to the long list of distractions I have swirling about in my brain.
Focus, Christine, focus!
Back to audiobooks, damn it. Because look here, audiobooks are currently 20% of my income. And I only have six of them. Imagine what it will be when I have all 15 of my books in audiobook format?!
So I don't know about you, but on Day 2 of "Oh thank goodness the kids are in school and I no longer have any distractions" is not going according to plan.
I guess I'm just Doug from Up. And the squirrels? They are everywhere!
Author Nation and RAVE Reader Event - Las Vegas
I will be attending Author Nation this November in Las Vegas. So will a lot of other talented authors. And there is a special reader event, RAVE on the 15th of the month. Come and see your favorite author (which I'm absolutely sure is ME, but it's okay if it is someone else, I forgive you) and a ton of others and buy their books. In fact, enter the sweepstakes for a lucky reader to win two gold tickets and a two-night hotel room stay. I hope that I will see you there!
Find Me on Facebook
Join my group General Malcontent's Grumbles and Scribbles on Facebook and get plenty of weird memes, the opportunity to read my newest releases for free, pics of the family, and other author news. I look forward to seeing you there!
