My Voice Has Been Silenced... Temporarily

Let's start with the good news, shall we?

The Liberty Fall Fest was amazing yesterday! KC Book Beat, a local organization that helps promote authors, had a booth there for eleven authors. In fact, it is still there, until 4pm today!

Creating an affordable space for authors to display their books was wonderful, especially since large booths are costly, more than any one author is willing to risk, even on three days of sales. We each were able to bring up to seven books, and choose between manning the booth on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. But whether we were there or not, we were able to sell our books as it all went under the KC Book Beat sales.

I dropped my books off on Friday, helped set them up, and then returned on Saturday for my 12-hour shift. I learned that at least ten of my Winter's Child books had sold yesterday, which was a-maz-ing!!!

I think I saw another ten sales of my books as well. I know I ran out of the copies of Winter's Child I had dropped off on Friday. My husband found the last seven and brought them to me for today's sales. I definitely want to do this next year!

Now for the bad news...

When I returned from my writing retreat last week, my husband was sick with a cold. Which I have at least sort of contracted. I've had a sore throat since Thursday and between the sore throat and doing so much talking to festival attendees, my voice is down to a tiny, painful, and quiet rasp. My children will be thrilled. No Mama barking orders at them to clean up after themselves!

That's okay, I have solution...interpretive dance!

I think that the Fall Fest is definitely something I want to return to, and I'm looking into spring festivals as well. Not sure I want to subject myself to the heat, insects, and unforgiving sun of summer festivals, but spring and fall are great around here!

I've more than doubled my income for the month and will have more coming in with upcoming events. So exciting! Subscribe to my newsletter to learn more and get a free upload of Fate's Highway!

The only real downside to this is that, if it continues, it impedes my progress on narrating the G581 books. I'm currently one story away from being done with G581: Plague Tales and would have gone on then to narrate G581: Zarmina's World and G581: Plague Tales II. Hopefully, my voice will recover soon. Meanwhile, I will focus on editing the narrated passages and opening up my Spanish-language books to a wider audience. Being trapped in Amazon Unlimited and unable to go wide is far too limiting. I'll be expanding everywhere - Ingram for sales to libraries, KOBO, my website, Payhip and more. If you can think of it, I'll probably be there. Translations to German, French, and Italian are also coming.

Last but not least, I hope you will join me at Lit and Libations on November 8th. There's a Great Gatsby theme and I can't wait to wear a dress I bought (and have not worn yet) that feels very 20s flapper vibe to me. You can buy tickets here.

And remember...
