How Do I Get Motivated?

I was listening to the podcast Ink in Your Veins and she asked her guest, another writer, how she gets motivated to write. Which obviously prompted me to ask a series of questions of myself, because I had literally never thought of it.

How DO I get motivated to write?

Do I NEED motivation?

What do I do when I sit down to write?

Well, the first thing I do is check my sales. "Am I rich yet?"

This is inevitably a grounding experience. It can be summed up as, "Well, I think I need to write more books and finish some more series and maybe create more series and just, you know, more content in general."

So, for me, writing happens as a result of lackluster sales. As long as my monthly sales remains in the 3-digit figures most months, I feel motivated to write more. Although, if I were to surpass that and begin earning 4-digit, better, 5-digit figures, I can't help wondering if I would be even more motivated to write.

I guess I'll just have to find out!

p.s. This month I actually will earn four digits. A rare, yet exciting occurrence!
